At BPA, we are committed to upholding the values and traditions of baseball, fostering a culture of integrity, hard work (grit), determination, and respect for the game. We believe in teaching young athletes not only the fundamentals of baseball but also the importance of character, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Our goal is to develop well-rounded individuals who understand that success is earned through dedication and effort, both on and off the field.
Here’s our stance on some trends in today’s competitive youth baseball environment:
Branded Affiliate Teams: Unlike other "academies," we do not permit just anyone to use our name or brand for their teams. This includes unsupervised parent-run groups that may not prioritize long-term player development, regardless of their level of competitiveness. Every team we field is trained under our established philosophies, systems, and a professional, paid coaching staff to ensure consistency and quality.
Guest Players: We only allow non-rostered players if they have an existing commitment to BPA, such as being part of another BPA team or participating in one of our training programs. We don’t need to rely on borrowing players because we consistently field 2-3 teams in each age group, starting at 8U. Additionally, we believe it’s unfair to other athletes who are working hard to earn their spot or be called up for an event.
Paying or "Incentivizing" Parents to Play: As unbelievable as it may sound, some teams and programs today are actually paying parents to bring their athletes in to guest play in tournaments or events. While we are passionate about winning and strive to compete at the highest level, we are not a "win at all costs" program. We value integrity and believe in earning success the right way. However, we do offer financial aid for families experiencing hardship. We have a strict policy that we will never turn a family away due to financial reasons. If a family is committed, loyal, and willing to give back in some way, we are happy to assist by waiving certain program costs to help those in need.
Social Media: While some of our players participate in social media, we don’t encourage chasing online fame. This often creates a false sense of achievement, which can be misleading as athletes grow. A lot can change between ages 9 or 10 and the time they’re striving to make a high school team at 14.
Walk-Up Music: At BPA, you won’t hear walk-up music during games. We believe it’s a distraction—not just for our players but for the opposing team—and should be a privilege reserved for athletes at the next level. If you are looking for a team that offers "walk up music" for your athlete, hit the back button and go back to your search results- sorry!
Flashy "Swag" & Accessories: We prefer our athletes to avoid flashy gear and accessories, as it often distracts players and can even affect team dynamics. Show your flash in your game, not your accessories!
At BPA, we foster a culture of hard work, integrity, grit, and determination. We believe these trends can detract from our goals. Our mission is to teach baseball the right way from the start—emphasizing fundamentals, respect for the game, and playing with heart. Whether we win or lose, it’s about competing the right way and instilling lifelong values through the game we love.
We offer three types of programs to meet the needs of different players and programs offered:
Cooperstown baseball is a truly special experience, and BPA is proud to offer this unforgettable opportunity to our teams. Known as the "Mecca of Youth Baseball," Cooperstown in New York brings together top teams from across the country for a week-long tournament that is as competitive as it is inspiring. Players have the chance to compete on beautifully maintained fields, participate in exciting opening ceremonies, and bond with teammates in a way that creates memories to last a lifetime. Visiting the National Baseball Hall of Fame adds another layer of meaning to the trip, connecting young athletes with the rich history of the game they love.
While we aim to compete and win every game we play, we refuse to compromise our integrity by playing the game dishonestly or adopting questionable tactics. Our teams embody our commitment to excellence, respect, and the true spirit of baseball.
